Christmas in July 2020

On Saturday, July 25, 2020, the Athens Business Association in conjunction with Valley Sno Co. will be hosting a Christmas in July event in Downtown Athens!

The event will feature sales and activities from several local businesses and organizations, as well as a visit from Santa Claus! The idea was started by one of Athens's latest additions to our downtown storefronts, Valley Sno Co., a locally owned gourmet Louisiana-style 'sno-ball' stand that had its start on the mobile front. Valley Sno Co. will be hosting a summer snowball fight in the park. The snowballs will be provided by the business, which can be reserved at the rate of $5 for 10 snowballs by contacting Valley Sno Co.

In addition to Santa and the snowball fight, local businesses will be holding sales and participating in their own ways. Local music store Yale's Music Shop will be offering 10% off any new and in-stock guitar, Children's Depot will be having a buy one get one 1/2 off on clothing, and be sure to check the sidewalk in front of SHEA Creations & Company for their sidewalk sale from 10-3!

Athens also welcomes to the event several additional activities and pop-ups that are stopping by! Heather Hanson, an independent Zyia Athletic Wear Rep, will be set up outside of Urban Connection, SHEA Creations & Company will be having a Card Class (preregistration with the shop is required), and the Rise and Shine Community Center invites you into the center for candy canes and crafts! Five Dollar Books, a mobile bookstore started by local entrepreneur Basil E. Bacorn that donates 75% of its profits annually to give back to the community, will be set-up inside the Rise and Shine Community Center as well and the Spalding Memorial Library will be having a book sale at their location.

Stop by and support local! We hope it will be a fun and socially distant event for everyone!

The mission of the Athens Business Association is to provide maximum value to our member businesses and the members of the Athens community. We accomplish this by exchanging and implementing ideas that will help your business be seen by more prospects and providing you with the education and tools to be able to take advantage of the newest trends. We are also committed to improving the community and creating a pleasant environment to encourage the community to shop in the business district.

The way I’ve heard our intentions described the best is “Business focused, community-minded”. It is my belief that if we can build a larger, more active organization through incentives and providing more benefits to our member businesses that not only will we positively affect the business environment of Athens, but we will be able to be more involved in the community than ever before too!

At the end of the day, we would be nothing without the community of Athens and the business owners who donate their time and money to do all the things we do and we want to do our part in giving back in a way that provides value for everyone involved. If you ever have any ideas for how we can provide YOU with value, please do not hesitate to reach out! That being said, we cannot promise that we can accomplish every suggestion, but we do want to hear from you so we know how to better serve you.

I am looking forward to a great year! Thank you for taking the time. Enjoy the site!

Thanks,

Kyle Farr
